Bernie Dombrowski, RHU, REBC Vice President
Bernie Dombrowski is currently a Vice President at Brown & Brown Insurance Agency. Bernie was the original founder of Synergy Benefits, Inc. in 2001, which was acquired by Brown & Brown in August of 2010. Bernie earned a BBA with a concentration in management from James Madison University in 1993. He furthered his education at the American College, where he received the Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and the Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) designations. Bernie has been a Life and Health licensed agent since 1996, when he began his insurance career with Optimum Choice, and he also holds a Property and Casualty license. Bernie has served as the Virginia Managing General Agent for Starmark, Inc., and is currently seated on the UnitedHealthcare Regional Advisory Panel, and has served as a past representative for the Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield state-wide Advisory Committee and the Aetna Regional Committee. Furthermore, he is a member (and past president) of the Kiwanis Bull Run Chapter, the James Madison University Duke Club, and other charitable organizations. Bernie resides in Leesburg, with his wife and their four children (Madison, Richie, Tyler, and Jessica). Bernie spends much of his free time with family and coaching youth league football and basketball.

Robert Hayward, CBC Vice President
Robert Hayward is a Vice President at Brown & Brown Insurance Agency. Robert graduated from Old Dominion University in 1994 with a BA in History and Political Science. Upon graduation, Robert worked for a prominent patent-law firm in Washington, DC before beginning his insurance career. In 1996, Robert joined New York Life as a licensed Life and Health agent and in 1997, he transitioned his focus to the employee benefits market. In February 2001, Robert was a founding partner in Synergy Benefits, Inc., a leading insurance agency in the D.C. metropolitan area, which was recently acquired by Brown & Brown. Robert is currently pursuing his Chartered Benefits Consultants designation. Robert is married with five children and resides in Vienna, VA. He is an avid swimmer, cyclist and runner, and has completed multiple Marine Corps Marathons, Boston Marathons and several Olympic and half-ironman triathlons.

Remington Jayashekaramurthy Sales Executive
Remington is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but has lived in the Northern Virginia area for the past 15 years. Remington graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Communications. He has completed the Health Care Advanced Knowledge Institute and is continually looking for new ways to advance his knowledge in our ever changing industry. Remington participates in the Prince William County Chamber of Commerce and spends time volunteering locally for Habitat for Humanity, SERVE, and United Way, among others. Remington currently resides in Manassas, VA with his wife, daughter and two dogs.

Nicole Negvesky, GBDS Employee Benefits Practice Leader
Nicole is a native of Alexandria, Virginia and has over 12 years of experience in the employee benefits arena. She is knowledgeable in all aspects of health and welfare programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) and Section 125 accounts. Nicole is diligent in analyzing employers total benefits package and discovering ways in which programs can be enhanced or streamlined ensuring a good value to both the employer and employee. She keeps apprised of new legislation that governs health and welfare packages and serves on the Legislative Committee of the IIAV. She is knowledgeable in ERISA laws including COBRA and HIPAA as well as FMLA compliance. Nicole graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and recently obtained her Group Benefit Disability Specialist designation. Nicole is a recent graduate of the Leadership Prince William program, Class of 2010. She is an active member and Paul Harris Fellow of the Gainesville-Haymarket Rotary club and lives in Bristow, Virginia with her husband, two daughters and son.

Pattysue Rauh, CPA, CIC, CBIA Executive Vice President
Pattysue graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Rutgers School of Business. She started her career with Price Waterhouse as an auditor prior to joining Brown & Brown, Inc. in 1995. During her first few years with Brown & Brown she trained and produced business on the Property and Casualty side of the agency. In 1998 she started an Employee Benefits Division for the Brown & Brown Daytona Florida Retail Branch. As the leader of that division, she grew the Daytona branch to one of the top performing offices in the Brown & Brown system.
Today Pattysue is the Profit Center Leader for the Manassas Virginia location with responsibilities for the entire office. She holds and maintains her Certified Public Accountant designation as well as her Certified Insurance Counselor designation. As leader of this branch her primary focus is on client acquisition and retention. She monitors the entire team to be sure that each client is provided with superior service. In addition she cultivates relationships with our carrier partners to be sure we are bringing the latest and most innovative cost effective products to our clients.

Alicia Southwick Sales Executive
Alicia is a native of Herndon, Virginia, but now resides in Warrenton, Virginia with her husband and two children. Alicia earned a BBA with a concentration in Human Resource Management from Strayer University. Alicia started her career with MCI Worldcom, as a National Account Support Consultant, before beginning her insurance career. In 2002, Alicia joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in the Employee Benefits market. Alicia continued her career at MetLife for nine years as a Client Sales Consultant, serving as a trusted advisor to her defined book of business. Alicia joined the Brown & Brown team in 2011 and she considers herself a student of the business, using industry experience, product knowledge and technology to service and retain her employee benefit groups.

Richard Zaring, CLU, CEBS Vice President
Richard began his insurance career with Metropolitan Life in 1971. As a sales representative and manager, he qualified for their top recognition clubs including Million Dollar Round Table. After several years of running his own agency, he joined The Harris Agency in 1981 and developed their Employee Benefits Department. In 2001, The Harris Agency was purchased by Brown & Brown. Richard has served on the Board of the Northern Virginia Association of Life Underwriters and the National Association of Health Underwriters where he served as President from 2000 to 2001. Richard is a dedicated professional and also speaks for various other local organizations. Richard lives in Herndon with his wife. He has three children and one grandchild. Other interests include cycling, tennis and gardening.
